Based on the novel by Nobel Prize-winner Harry Martinson, Aniara: fragments of time and space explores our relationship to one another, to Earth, and to the passage of time. Presented by The Crossing, this world premiere encompasses a 90-minute score composed by Pew Fellow Robert Maggio and features the 24-member The Crossing choir and the Klockriketeatern theater company. "Sometimes cold and brutal, at other times touching, it is a ruthlessly honest view of human nature," describes The Crossing.
Future performances of Aniara: fragments of time and space include The Crossing’s European debut, July 3–4 at the The Haarlem Choral Biennale in The Netherlands, and performances from September 17–21 at The Finnish National Opera in Helsinki.
