Thaddeus Phillips' (2002 Pew Fellow) new bilingual performance work for theater, inspired by his experience working on Colombian telenovela Alias El Mexicano, premieres as part of the 2015 Fringe Festival. Funded by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage, Alias Ellis MacKenzie combines the design aesthetics of a film set—complete with boom lights, tripods, and cranes—with the out-of-sequence narrative structure of a TV film schedule, exploring intersections of television and theater.
