Our grantees bring richness to the cultural life of the Philadelphia region with ambitious events and programs and distinctive artistic voices. In 2016, more than $10 million in grants provided support for 36 projects, 5 advancement grants, and 12 artists’ fellowships. Grantees engaged with neighborhoods, took deep dives into artists’ work and legacies, and challenged disciplinary boundaries. We offer a snapshot here.
What are the critical issues at play in contemporary cultural production? More than 60 artists, curators, and cultural practitioners contributed to our ongoing conversation in the Center’s Questions of Practice series.
In December 2016, we released In Terms of Performance, a free web-based keywords anthology designed to provoke discovery across artistic disciplines, with texts and interviews from more than 50 prominent artists, curators, presenters, and scholars who reflect on common yet contested terms in interdisciplinary cultural practice.
The publication is produced in collaboration with the Arts Research Center, University of California, Berkeley and co-edited by Shannon Jackson and the Center’s executive director Paula Marincola. Join the conversation on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter using #InTermsOfPerformance.
